It is counted among the group of wealhiest and moreover least diversed in terms of earned income by residents, who are referred to as these most satisfied in Europe. How is it possible that a country so miserably populated (5 mln inhabitants), in which arctic frosts prevail (even to -50 degrees), has become a powerhouse, and its capital is the top destination of recent years? I invite you for a weekend retrospection of events that took place in mid-January and became the dream straight beginning of a new, travel year. Determinants of the success of the Norwegian #CityBreak was of course constant within the framework of the #ONElifeALLcapitals action, a budget of 1000 PLN, my partner’s expedition in the person of my sister, and her relatively good mood, hoping for no comments regarding the time of departure. As each of our weekend trips has a common denominator and it is the time of departure (3am), it is difficult to fight with the latter condition. Especially since the small latte is drunk before 5am at the Lech Wałęsa Airport in Gdansk always deals with the matter! Moments later, we only have to put up on the plane and this time say → OSLO, here we come! ♥ ︎
Tym oto sposobem w sobotni poranek, po krótkim locie (1H10MIN) jedną z moich ulubionych maszyn, tj. Airbus A320 linii WizzAir (39PLN), niemal dwugodzinnej przeprawie z lotniska Sandefjord-Torp (280NOK ~ 120PLN) dotarłyśmy do 4* Radisson BLU Plaza Hotel (275PLN/os). This is how on Saturday morning, after a short flight (1H10MIN) one of my favorite machines (Airbus A320) operated by WizzAir (39PLN), almost 2-hour road using the airport coach from Sandefjord-Torp Airport (280NOK ~ 120PLN) we reached the 4* Radisson BLU Plaza Hotel (275PLN). This hotel is located at Sonja Henies Plass (3). Undoubtedly, this is a great and, at the same time, good value for money, accommodation. After express check in and leaving luggage, we set out to conquer the city and the implementation of points from the list created by us „10 things TO DO in Oslo”.
„SEE the absolutely unique #OperaHouse” było 1. punktem na naszej liście i to właśnie w kierunku wyjątkowego gmachu Opery najpierw skierowałyśmy swe kroki. Uznawany jest on bowiem za najładniejszy pod względem architektonicznym budynek na ziemi. Rezygnacja z pionowych form i postawienie na otwartą, niezwykle dostępną konstrukcję, wskazuje na bliskość między ludźmi a kulturą i fakt, iż jedna strona warunkuje istnienie drugiej. Wykonany ze szkła i marmuru kararyjskiego niczym góra lodowa wyrasta w porcie Bjorvika i zaprasza, aby po pochylni wdrapać się na sam szczyt. Widok jest imponujący! Panorama basenu portowego i pięknego miasta stoi przed nami otworem. Warto zgłębić także wnętrze budynku, zwłaszcza wyłożoną dębem Dużą Salę, uznawaną za najpiękniejszą salę operową na świecie czy foyer na dachu, gdzie odbywają się koncerty.

„SEE the absolutely unique #OperaHouse” was the first point on our list and it was towards the unique Opera building that we directed our steps first. It is considered the most beautiful architectural building on earth. The resignation from vertical forms and placing on the open, extremely accessible construction, indicates the closeness between people and culture and the fact that one side determines the existence of the other. Made of glass and carrara marble like an iceberg, it grows in the port of Bjorvik and invites to climb the summit on the ramp. The view is impressive! The panorama of the port basin and the beautiful city is open to us. It is also worth exploring the interior of the building, especially the large hall lined with oak, considered the most beautiful opera house in the world or the foyer on the roof where concerts take place.
Z realizacją „DO your best on the #IceRink”, a więc drugiego punktu z listy, był problem. Nie poddałyśmy się jednak, podjęłyśmy wyzwanie, wypożyczyłyśmy łyżwy (45NOK ~ 20PLN) i spróbowałyśmy swoich sił na płycie lodowiska. Nasze popisy z wyżej wymienionym „DO your best” niewiele miały wspólnego, ale frajdy zapewniły od groma, a to się przecież liczy, prawda?

With the implementation of „DO your best on the #IceRink”, the second point on the list, we spotted a problem. However, we did not give up, we took up the challenge, rented skates (45NOK ~ 20PLN) and tried our strength on the ice rink. Our performances from the above mentioned „DO your best” did not have much in common, but the fun has provided a lot, and that’s what counts, right?
Norwegia, jak na ustrój monarchii konstytucyjnej przystało, oddaje swe losy w ręce Króla, urzędującego w Pałacu Królewskim. I choć pomieszczenia mieszkalne nie są dostępne dla rzeszy zwiedzających, warto zajrzeć do 15 reprezentacyjnych pomieszczeń urządzonych w eklektycznym stylu. Naszym punktem obowiązkowym stała się natomiast zmiana warty królewskiej straży, która ma miejsce codziennie o godz. 13.30 i której doświadczenie pozwoliło nam na odhaczenie punktu „BE a witness of changing the guard at the #RoyalPalace.

Norway, as befits the constitutional monarchy, gives its fate to the King who is in the Royal Palace. And although living spaces are not available to the masses of visitors, it is worth looking into 15 representative rooms decorated in an eclectic style. However, our duty to change the guard of the royal guard, which takes place daily at 1.30pm and whose experience allowed us to tick off the point „BE a witness of changing the guard at the #RoyalPalace”.
4. punkt, choć tak prozaiczny, był niezbędny dla ciała i duszy. „EAT soup at #What’Soup” okazał się być absolutnie najsmaczniejszym punktem weekend’owego wypadu! Do zlokalizowanej przy Nedre Slottsgate (8) handlowej galerii Steen&Strom schodzą się tłumy żądne zakupowych, ale i kulinarnych uniesień. Menu What’Soup oczywiście obejmuje jedynie zupy, ale za to jakie. Tak fenomenalnego ramenu nie jadłam jak żyję! Fakt, że tak drogiego również (159NOK ~ 69PLN), ale horrendalnie wysokiech cen w tym kraju nie sposób nie uświadczyć.

4th point, though prosaic, was necessary for the body and soul. „EAT soup at # What’Soup” turned out to be absolutely the tastiest point of the weekend trip! The shopping gallery Steen & Strom, located at Nedre Slottsgate (8), attracts crowds of shopping and culinary delights. Menu What’Soup of course includes only soups, but… Such phenomenal ramen I’ve not eaten in my whole life! The fact that so expensive also (159NOK ~ 69PLN), but horrendally high prices in this country can not fail to be realized.
„Via Venetto Północy”, a więc zbudowanego w 1814 roku, na rozkaz szwedzkiego regenta Karola XIV Jana, bulwaru nie sposób w Oslo pominąć. Z tego powodu „WALK thru the #KarlJohans gate” stało się nieodzownym punktem do zaliczenia. Ta określana mianem głównej tętnicy miasta droga, łączy oddalone o niemal 2km orientacyjne punkty – Dworzec Główny z Zamkiem Królewskim. Jej otoczenie stanowią luksusowe butiki, niebotycznie drogie hotele (na zdjęciu fasada słynnego Grand Hotel) i wyśmienite restauracje.

„Via Venetto of North”, and therefore built in 1814, at the behest of the Swedish regent, Charles XIV, the boulevard in Oslo is impossible to omit. For this reason, „WALK thru the #KarlJohans gate” has become an indispensable point to pass. This road, known as the main artery of the city, connects approx. 2 km of landmarks – the Main Railway Station with the Royal Palace. Its surroundings are luxury boutiques, exorbitantly expensive hotels (in the picture the facade of the famous Grand Hotel) and delicious restaurants.
Idealna opcja na zwieńczenie tak udanego dnia, wydawała się być oczywista. „GO for a drink at the #SkyBar on the 36th floor”? Nie miałyśmy cienia wątpliwości i udałyśmy się na drinka do restauracji zlokalizowanej na 36tym piętrze naszego hotelu. Oprócz pysznego Aperol Spritz wieczór umilała nam panorama spowitego mrokiem i rozświetlonego tysiącami lamp miasta.

The perfect option for the final of such a successful day seemed obvious. „GO for a drink at the #SkyBar on the 36th floor”? We had no doubt and we went for a drink at the restaurant located on the 36th floor of our hotel. In addition to the delicious Aperol Spritz, the evening made our panorama dark and illuminated with thousands of city lamps.
Niedzielny poranek, to // od zawsze, na zawsze // czas, który poświęcamy na sesję zdjęciową i przygotowanie materiałów do wpisu z cyklu Outfit Of The Day. Ten był jednak wyjątkowy, bowiem idąc myślą // „stop try to fit in, cause you’re born to stand out!” // przekazaną mi przez kiedyś przez jedną ze szwedzkich blogerek, której styl podziwiam, a osobowość bardzo cenię, postanowiłam przesunąć nieco własną granicę komfortu. Sporo czasu upłynęło nam na wspólnych rozmowach, zanim odważyłam się sięgnąć po rzeczy, które wizualnie przemawiały do mnie od zawsze, jednak były (w moim mniemaniu) zbyt unikatowe jak na moją modową filizofię. Postanowiłam jednak jedną ze swoich topowych wizualizacji wcielić w życie poprzez zakup totalnej „guilty pleasure” pod postacią włochatego płaszcza okrzykniętego mianem GORILLA COAT ♥︎. Nie ukrywam, że obawy pojawiły się. Mimo to, w moim włochatym GORILLA COAT ♥︎ czułam się wprost genialnie! To ogromne, sztuczne (rzecz jasna!) futro, jest nie tylko topowe pod względem kolorystyki (#UltraViolet to jeden z wyborów Insytutu Pantone na rok 2018), niesamowicie ciepłe (co przy panującym w Oslo siarczystym mrozie okazało się kluczowe), ale i pozwoliło mi ma wyrażenie tego, co modowo od tak dawna było mi bliskie! Relacjonując przebieg cudownego weekendu, który za mną, w najśmielszych snach nie spodziewałabym się tak niesamowicie pozytywnego odbioru z Waszej strony! 3500 ♥︎ i ponad 50 mega pozytywnych komentarzy pod jednym zdjęciem? Dziękuję Wam pięknie, choć nadal przecieram oczy ze zdziwienia, a GORILLA COAT is on my mind!

Sunday morning, it’s // from always, forever // time, which we devote to the photo session and preparation of materials for the entry from the series Outfit Of The Day. This, however, was unique, because going with the idea of // „stop try to fit in, cause you’re born to stand out!” // given to me by one of the swedish bloggers, whose style I admire, and I value the personality very much, I decided to move my own limit of comfort somewhat. We spent a lot of time talking together before I dared to reach for things that have visually appealed to me forever, but they were (in my opinion) too unique for my fashion philosophy. However, I decided to implement one of my top visualizations by purchasing a total „guilty pleasure” in the form of a hairy coat, named GORILLA COAT ♥. I do not conceal that fears have arisen. Even so, in my furry GORILLA COAT ♥ ︎ I felt just fantastic! This huge, faux fur, is not only top in terms of color (#UltraViolet is one of the choices of the Pantone Insitute for 2018), incredibly warm (what with the frost in Oslo proved to be key), but also allowed I have an expression of what fashion has been close to me for so long. Reporting the course of a wonderful weekend, which in my wildest dreams I would not expect such an incredibly positive reception from your side! 3500 ♥ ︎ and over 50 mega positive comments under one photo? Thank you so much, though I still rub my eyes and GORILLA COAT is on my mind!
Po wykonaniu zdjęć, udałyśmy się na latte, by „DRINK a cup of coffee” (35NOK ~ 14PLN) do popularnej Espresso House, aby chwilę odpocząć i przygotować się na trudy dnia. Na tamten moment nie miałyśmy jednak pojęcia z czym tak naprawdę przyjdzie nam się zmierzyć.

After taking pictures, we went on a latte (35NOK ~ 14PLN) to the popular Espresso House, to take a moment to rest and prepare for the hardships of the day. At the moment, however, we had no idea what we would really need to face.
Jako, że „CLIMB to the top of the Holmenkollen #SkiJump” było atrakcją, której sama myśl zaliczenia napawała nas ekscytacją, udałyśmy się do najbliższej stacji metra. Po podróży trwającej niespełna 30 minut (33NOK ~ 14PLN) naszym oczom okazał się „zielony dach miasta”. Rozentuzjazmowane rozpoczęłyśmy wspinanie się ośnieżonym zboczem, jednak uśmiech szybko zniknął z naszych twarzy. Po pokonaniu jednego zakrętu, pojawiał się drugi, na jego miejsce trzeci, a potem kolejny. Z każdym zaliczonym zaczynało brakować nam oddechu. W końcu, cudem, dotarłyśmy do podnóża wspaniałej skoczni Holmenkollen i rozpoczęłyśmy wspinanie na jej szczyt. Z każdym pokonanym krokiem rósł mój podziw dla grupy skoczków odbywających swój trening. Niska temperatura (-15), porywający wiatr, i wysokość, przy której ból głowy był nieznośny. To ewidentnie sport elitarny, w którym grupa leszczy (jak my!) może co najwyżej z podziwem spoglądać na osiągane przez mistrzów rezultaty. Skocznia sama w sobie budzi respekt, ale i z miejsca rozkochuje. Wybudowana na Mistrzostwa Świata w Narciarstwie Klasycznym (2011) uważana jest za najczęściej odwiedzaną atrakcję turystyczną kraju. Szczerze? Nie wyobrażam sobie, aby podczas weekend’owego wypadu do Oslo,nie poświęcić jej kilku godzin! Podobnie, jak zlokalizowanemu nieopodal Muzeum Narciarstwa (140NOK ~ 60PLN). Ze zgłębienia jego zakamarków dowiecie się jak rozwijało się narciarstwo na przestrzeni 4000 lat. Absolutny ewenement w skali świata!

As „CLIMB to the top of the Holmenkollen #SkiJump” was an attraction whose very thought of passing us excited us, we went to the nearest subway station. After a journey lasting less than 30 minutes (33NOK ~ 14PLN) our eyes turned out to be a „green roof of the city”. We started enthusiastically climbing the snowy slope, but the smile quickly disappeared from our faces. After defeating one turn, a second appeared, in its place a third, then another. With each completed, we were short of breath. In the end, by a miracle, we reached the foot of the magnificent Holmenkollen hill and we started climbing to the top. With each step I took, my admiration for a group of jumpers doing their training grew. Low temperature (-15), thrilling wind, and height at which the headache was unbearable. It is evidently an elite sport in which the group is breaming (like us!) Can at most admire look at the results achieved by the champions. The ski jump itself is awe-inspiring, but it also falls in love with the place. Built for the World Ski Championships (2011), it is considered the most visited tourist attraction of the country. Honestly? I can not imagine that during a weekend trip to Oslo, not spending a few hours in here! Similarly to the nearby Museum of Skiing (140NOK ~ 60PLN). From exploring his nooks and crannies, you will learn how skiing has developed over 4000 years. An absolute sensation in the world!
Popołudniową porą, po powrocie do centrum, udałyśmy się do Parku Rzeźb Vigelanda, który był ostatnim już z naszych celów z listy „TO DO”. Gustaw Vigeland, najsłynniejszy norweski rzeźbiarz, nad swoimi dziełami pracował przez długie lata swojego życia. Pewna myśl go nie opuszczała, jednak, aby przemienić ją w rzeczywistość, zawarł umowę z miastem. Darował na jego rzecz wszystkie z 650 wykonanych figur, w zamian za zażądał środków do zrealizowania swojej wizji. Jego marzeniem było przedstawienie szerokiemu gronu odbiorców wszystkich faz ludzkiego losu. Stworzenia kamiennej paraboli życia. Park Vigelanda to ponad 200 kompozycji rzeźb ustawionych jedna za drugą w alei spacerowej nazwanej na jego cześć. Legenda głosi, że każdy, kto da się poprowadzić artyście przez owy labirynt, wyjdzie z niego odmieniony. Czy to prawda? Każdy z nas przekona się o tym we własnym zakresie.

After an afternoon after returning to the center, we went to the Vigeland Sculpture Park, which was the last of our goals from the TO TO list. Gustav Vigeland, the most famous Norwegian sculptor, worked on his works for many years of his life. Some thought did not leave him, but to transform her into reality, he made a deal with the city. He donated all 650 of his figures to him, in exchange for demanding funds to realize his vision. His dream was to present a wide audience of all phases of human fate. Creation of a stone parable of life. Vigeland Park has over 200 compositions of sculptures arranged one by one in a walking alley named in his honor. Legend says, that anyone who can lead the artist through this maze will come out altered. Is it true? Each of us will be convinced about it on our own.
Na przechadzaniu się uliczkami zastał nas niedzielny zachód słońca, co nieuchronnie wskazywało na fakt, iż czas w Oslo dobiegł końca. Udałyśmy się do portu ostatni raz zerknąć na cudowną marinę, a później po bagaże do hotelu, z którymi ruszyłyśmy na dworzec. Po północy wylądowałyśmy na lotnisku w Gdańsku i tym oto sposobem zakończyłyśmy swój 48h weekend’owy wypad. Wrażenia? Wszystko zostało już napisane ♥︎.

On walking the streets we found the Sunday sunset, which inevitably pointed to the fact that the time in Oslo came to an end. We went to the port last time to look at the marvelous marina, and later to the luggage to the hotel with which we went to the station. After midnight, we landed at the Gdansk airport and this is how we ended our 48 hour weekend trip. Impressions? Everything has already been written ♥ ︎.
